Talking Headers & True Dual Complete!

installing headers soon and right now am removing old exhaust. i got the cats off and i am trying to get the damn Y off. i loosened the clamp where it goes into the I-pipe and used a 3 lb. sledge and that thing won't budge. also soaked it over night with some pb blaster. Anyone got a good way to get that sucker off there?

LOL this reminds me of my exhaust haha atleast i broke all the bolts and got the whole thing out eventually! i would bang on it and give it a real shake..i bet its all rusty and stuck. if you're going with a new catback then try to saw the I pipe..that would probably be easier. AND the classical advice get new engine mounts while you're at it. good luck

I'm doing true duals so I don't need any of the stock exhaust so I'm prolly just going to have to hack it up to get it out of there.

Same here.

I used a ton of PB and used a regular hammer (my poor ears) and banged near the bends on the Y toward the front (obviously). If you look for my Headers & MM writeup, I have a pic in the section where I circled where hammering was having the most effect. It did take some time though.. like 30 minutes of straight hammering.

Getting ready to try some more on the hard hammering. Also beefed up the way the car is in the air. Always better safe then sorry. Jack with blocks, ramps, and jackstands lol

Finally my headers arrived. They are the eBay stainless. Looked over them. All the welds look great.

the front end of your car will have to be higher to get the headers in

yes i know the car will have to be higher. i just had it there for removing the old exhaust. my jack and jack stands go a lot higher then what they are in the picture. as for the headers they were $180. they look real good and i'm hoping they fit good. I have another question for the stock manifold bolts. Is it easier to get the bolts from underneath the car. i can get all the drivers side from the top but i don't think there is a way for me to get to the rear passenger ones.

I took the coil pack rail off. That in itself is a feat, but once you do it, you can forget about the bolt in the back forever and it's easy to remove from then on. I removed both from the top:

Post 1 has coil rail removal and Post 2 has the manifold removal.
