I bought 20 ft of it and I had about 1 ft left over that I used for the ground. I ran it inside the car though up through the passenger side and then under the cowl to a dist block on the driver side shock tower. My point being that you can do it with much less wire.
It also depends if you are running it to a kill switch to be NHRA legal, or you are just putting it in the back.
I run a kill switch, I have one cable that goes to the Alt, and bridges over to the starter and is ran back to one side of my disconnect, and another cable that goes from the other side of the disconnect to the fuse block up front. and one short cable that goes to the battery to the side of the disconnect with the alt and starter on it. It took me around 30-35 feet but I wanted everything to look OEM, and not be noticable if you didnt know what you were looking for.

If the battery is mounted in the rear of the car it must have an outside disconnected. If it is mounted in the passanger compartment (like you have to in F-body's) it must be in a sealed box that is vented to the outside.
