Default got 243 heads for '98 ls1 which coil brackets

I picked up some 243 heads on here, came from a 06 gto. My question is does it matter if i get the coil brackets from the gto or any 99+ fbody that will work with my 98 coils ?

The gto coil brackets cost alittle more than the 99+ fbody brackets, they are both cheap on rockauto.

I would get the 99-02 f-boat brackets since they are cheaper. I don't think the coils changed throughout the 98-02 models.

If I understand your post (read it a few times and confused me) Your '98 coils will not fit since the mounting points are on the '97-98 perimeter bolt valve covers and not on a seperate bracket. You would have to make a cutom bracket if you want to use '98 coils, or go w/ a '99-up coil pack / bracket setup that will fit on the 243 center bolt valve covers.

he can keep his coils, just one needs to be flipped around. OP i went through a similar situation when i went from swapping my 98 motor to a 2000 with the canter bolt valve covers. look on ebay theres a guy who sells powder coated black brackets and stainless hardware. thats what i got and they look good and I kept my coils

Thanks for the correction. Wish I would have known that when I went with 243. The only brackets that I had were for d585 heat sink truck coils which I couldn't mount my 98's on. I always read that it couldn't be swapped to 99-up brackets and I never had 99-up for body ones to look at. Learn something new everyday

I'll just spend 10 bucks each at rockauto. I'll get the coil brackets from a 99 or 00 camaro. No sence in spending 20 bucks on gto coil brackets, when the fbodys work too.
