Intake Removal
1) Since I am taking the intake off are there any recommended maintainance, replacements, repairs, or services that I can go ahead and do at the same time?
2) Anyone have links to video tutorials? The ones I have are all pictures, which are not bad, but I seem to understand it better when I can see a video.
...you could also sand and paint it....remove you egr/air....what year car and intake are you running? Trending Topics
nah really new intake gaskets is all you need if you go that route. i'd opt for the right socket, however.
i managed to change mine in about an hour and a half start to finish, including a parts run (ls6 intake swap i broke the sensor...) so it's not that bad.

Do you have a 4 year old with TINY hands doing the work while looking at mirrors of the OPS area, while you are holding them upside down by the ankles over the (hoodless) cowl?!?!?!
Anyway, besides all of the suggestions so far, IF you are not planning on doing this again for a while, changing out the cam position sensor is also not a bad idea.

I agree with you, its is very tight. I cant remember how much space there is with the stock intake, but certainly with the fast intake there is no change at all. the vacuum lines out of the back of the intake are pretty much touching the sensor. The sensor often gets broken when people don't realize the vacuum pipe is there. Its hard to lift the intake up at the back while gently pulling it forward as you are leaning over the car. You can get the intake off and back on again within 30 mins, and you know the oil pressure sender unit is seated correctly when you screw the new one in. I got a very long reach socket to be able to removed the sender. I don't think you will get a spanner on there without removing the valley cover too.
