I might be able to take a video of tomorrow of my T/A. LT's, X pipe and 4x12cherrybomb glasspacks. Sounds somewhat similiar to the camaro (minus the turbo of course).

I use to run open exhaust at just after the axle but I had High flow cats. They really cut the rasp and I drove around with the cut out open most of the time and this was with a H/C 347.

I'm not sure.with the merge and an X how of would sound. I know with any bullet/chambered muffler....thats what gives it that pure muscle/nascar tone. Just as loud as straight pipes...but refined to eliminate rasp (along with the X) gives it a perfect tone. I'd just do of right man....if you do this or that...you still might not be happy in the future = wasted money.

If you want it loud but more refined than no muffler, the dynomax bullets on duals are exactly what you describe.

Other good options would be the chambered Sweet Thunders or if you like the Flowmaster type tone the 10 series single chambers.

I run it open because I figure I'll get the best gains out of that. The last thing I really want to do is restrict airflow, which is one of the reasons I just want to go straight pipe and nothing else. But I really don't want it to sound like complete ****

Did you lose any power when you put on the high flow cat?

The amount should be almost negligible (maybe 2-3 hp), It is actually my understanding you can get better mpg with an aftermarket High flow cat... as opposed to a stock cat from the factory which is in fact restrictive. As well it should cut down on the annoying "raspy" tone comming from the exhaust note.

Default 01 ss c6 z06 catted y pipe

Hey guys im new to these forums I have a 01 SS at the shop currently gettin pacesetter lt's installed with C6 Z06 catted y pipe going back to a straight pipe until over the axle then it becomes a 2.5 inch into dual tips. I got the headers cats and y pipe all together welded. My question is what should I get to tone it down a bit if I dont like it too loud? Because I feel like its goin to be way too loud.

Install a Magnaflow 14419 (about $89) muffler in the I-pipe.

Instead of straight pipe , look up "Phab exhaust true duals " on eBay.

The fact is, longtubes without a muffler on these cars sounds like garbage. You really need some kind of a resonator at a minimum to sound decent. Get two dynomax bullets if you want loud and raw. They sound decent and don't do that much in terms of quieting down exhaust.
