Default Straight Pipes Question [LS1]

So I'm considering having my muffler cut out and running straight pipes.

Current Exhaust Mods:

1 3/4 Kooks LT Headers No Air & EGR
Kooks 3" ORY
Borla 3" Catback

And a Tune for 93 octane

If i get the Borla muffler cut out, would i see more pros than cons or would i be creating more problems for myself?

straight pipes will be really loud. If you are just going for sound then I guess straights. If you want the performance of straights, but you still want it to be not as loud then a cut out is the way to go. Loud and straight through performance for the track and then slightly more tame for the ride home.

What do you believe you'll accomplish by removing the muffler, beside making it loud all the time?

I am not big on the straight pipe sound out of street cars. Ordinarily, great sounding cars for the street turn into like expressed above^^^^ Dogshit, I think nails it.

Wtf...throw a lm1 muffler on it. Or an X and run duals. Straight pipes are for trucks...hillbillies...or the ricer who thinks he's just awesome because his car is loud and obnoxious. I cut mine off when I did my Lts/duals. It was cool for about 5 minutes. No tone and a lot of rasp.

This is ls1tech, the word ricer does not exist here except through appearance. Thanks for your .02 though.

Maybe ill keep the borla. I figured an $800 catback would sound better than a $400 one

I could be wrong, but from looking at the description and from the sound I think the car has duals. Not just the muffler cut off for "straight pipes."

Is your borla the adjustable one?

^ That car probably has stock manifolds and cats, which is why it sounds alright straight piped. Your car with headers and ORY will sound really awful without any muffler.

I believe you are correct now that I listen to it. I guess I'm trying to get a more "tamed" tone when I get on it. Right now it has a tone that just kind of "splatters" out. I would really like to get my car sounding like this video (except for the turbo). Do you think i should have the borla cut out, have the Y pipe cut, and run true duals with two resonators?

If you want great sound and don't mind it being loud, get duals.

Figuratively speaking man.....the choice/thought of straight pipes is a bad idea for many reasons imo. You can't go wrong running duals though. Took me 2 unsatisfied catback setups to make that decision...but it was the answer.

^^ Gotcha man, so would you recommend just doing straights with duals? I have a Y pipe in now and i was thinking of having the muffler shop near me cut the Y pipe and run just straight duals from there to my borla tips. What do you think about that? Would you recommend throwing a resonator in there or something? Noise is not a problem, I love the sound of a loud engine especially at WOT.

You would want an Xpipe in their. You could cut the merge outta the Y and replace it with an x pipe..then run a couple bullets or chamberd mufflers to tips. Or sell the borla setup and buy a quality td setup. The borla would pay for the tsp duals.

Couldnt i just go from the merge, to x pipe, then just straight back to the tips? Or would that sound like said "dogshit"
