What are you trying to gain by only removing part of the AIR? IMO its should be all or nothing. If you just want to keep the pump from running you could unplug the harness from it or remove the fuse but you may get a SES light.

You will NOT set an SES light when removing your AIR pump. There is a flap on the underside molding on the driver side. There are two 10 mm bolts you need to remove and then you will be able to access the pump. Then just find the bolts that hold the pump and there is a wire clip that powers the pump. Just remove the bolts that hold it and unplug the wire clip and the pump will pop right off and remove it through the underside flap. Don't worry about the loose wire...just tuck it away somewhere. And as mentioned above...you will not set an SES light. Hope that helps.

I did, and so did every other person I know who did it. I even installed a jumper in the harness plug, didn't work. I didn't have a light on the first run, but as soon as I turned the car off and started it again, boom, there it was.
