Agreed. It's actually only $180 shipped for a brand new powerbond. The extra $20 is for the ARP bolt. The best time to do it is with a cam swap though since you'll probably have to pull the radiator to fit the puller in there. My car had one on it when I bought it.

Default Hijack!

Since you guys are talking about ported TB's, I had a quick question. I'm finally getting LT's, ORY and a tune installed in two weeks. I was also interested in getting my TB ported but I only have the stock LS1 manifold for the time being, I'll eventually grab a LS6 down the road. Is it worth it to port my TB with the stock LS1 manifold?

Do it now or do it later... either way, it will need done. I'd just go ahead and slap it on now as I'm sure you'll notice it even with the LS1 intake.

I would, the biggest gain is in throttle response anyway.

I think its one of those mods that everyone does but no one knows if it really gains anything, including myself lol.

I have doubts it helps HP much, but there has been a noticeable difference in off idle response on the 3 I have done:

cammed/bolt on ls1 with ls1 intake
stock 5.3 Silverado
exhaust, cai 5.3 Silverado

It takes me about half an hour or less to do one with a dremel and a carbide followed with a sand roll. I would spend the money on the dremel and a set of cheap bur bits on ebay before I would pay to have it done.

And what about these motor mounts? I keep hearing if you're putting LT's, then you have to replace the motor mounts since they're so old. Will the shop automatically do it if it's the obvious or should I mention it?

I would buy the motor mounts and provide the shop with them. I remember I went to Lous exhaust and had to tell them to do the motor mounts. Then they continued to hack up my exhaust. Unless your shop is a sponsor on ls1tech then they would already know.

Speed, Inc. is doing it and they are a sponsor.

I'd still mention it just to be sure. I mean, they could just skip it thinking you'd be the opposite type of customer; that is, "hey, why'd you charge me for new motor mounts?! I didn't tell you I wanted new motor mounts!"

How much do these motor mounts go for? And say if they didn't replace them, what's the possible damage in the long run?

~$50. I don't think it's so much about damage by not doing them; rather, it's so the long tubes will fit and the exhaust won't bang around. The theory is that even the newest factory motor mounts are now 11 years old...

^I didnt do motor mounts because I didnt want the hassle of replacing them. On a 65,000 mile car with quality headers, havent had a single problem yet..

I would do the motor mounts, its not worth possibly having one fail down the road and having to redo the exhaust work. As far as the TB do it. Mathematically there should be some power since there is increased CFM, but the response is the main thing

Ok I called comp cams and they found out my specs by doing doing a search from back to 2007, they just searched for the speed shop! well its a 224/228 114 LSA 581/588 lift. Anyone have anything like this? Are you satisfied with it?

Yeah I did it because I was bored and wanted to spend money. It did crisp up the throttle response a bit but you get used to it fast and then it's off to the next mod.
