Default Ported TB worth the $?

I see a lot of LS vehicles with Ported and Polished throttle bodies, upgraded intakes, larger MAFs and pulleys. Are these mods worth the cash? Is hundreds of dollars worth a 10hp gain? I do not forsee any large HP gains with these mods. I am looking to gain some added HP(trying to hit the 400) with external mods only, not looking at forced induction. Has Anyone had any noticeable gains that they recommend...besides my current setup below....Thanks!

Its all about flow and the more flow your can get the better. Imo with a ported TB/larger MAFS you will get some minor gains in stock form, but once you add heads/cam/FI you really take advantage of those extra amounts of flow.

Find a good set of 243/799 heads and you should be at your mark.

The little things will add up, and is worth it IMO. I just had my TB ported and I noticed a slight difference in throttle response

IMO a ported tb and pulley would be better mods then the slp cai and smooth bellow you have already...

Since it appears you're chasing a number, then absolutely those modifications are worthwhile. I noticed a nice increase in throttle response and smoothness when I added the ported throttle body. I also noticed a significant increase in "revving" after adding the pulley.

To be honest, I bet if you added the ported TB and pulley you'll see 400. The cost of both of those mods is very nominal, especially if you've been willing to invest in ARH headers.

If your trying to stay external and hit 400hp then its these little mods here that give it the extra oomph.

Starting out there is cheap easy HP then you are left with some that net a lot
less, but 4HP here and 6HP there it all adds up.

Lol, yes the ARH headers were a pretty penny! That was almost 6 years ago when I had the cash. I would like to add some power in the low RPM range. With my current cam set up my power is way too high in the RPM range....feels like turbo lag.

Good question...I'm not sure? I went with a recomended Cam from a speed shop, I misplaced all the paperwork and the speed shop has since shut down. I just know I lost power in low RPM's but once she hits above 4500 its awake! Is there anyway other way to find out the specs beside pulling the cam?

Contact the seller, im sure they can get you a extra copy of the specs if they still have you in their system.

Porting the tb is only like 75 bucks. Pulleys are what like $300?

Should be pretty easy to do with a dremel and some sanding rolls.

Hes def not going to go from 379 to 400rwhp from porting the tb and adding a ud pulley. Maybe those mods with a fast 92/92 would get there.

I'm getting the ported TB and MAF ends from POTZ very soon hopefully. For the ~$110 price I think it'll most likely be worth it from what I've read on here. I'd love to get a FAST setup it's just crazy expensive...

More like $200 with an ARP bolt.

I picked up a used pulley on ebay for $130. Doubt I would spend $200 on one.

It was noticeable in how quick the car revs though and no adverse effects.
