Default Get rid of SLP MAF before tune

I am waiting for my cam in the mail and in the process of gathering everything I need for the swap. My questions is should I change the SLP MAF that was on the car when I bought it before I get the car tuned or just leave it? I believe if I leave it and the MAF takes a dump one day I will have to either buy another SLP MAF or buy a stock/truck MAF and than have the car retuned.

I'm I correct? I do not want to have to over pay and get another SLP MAF if that's the case.

Any down sides to using a truck MAF with the harness that came with the SLP MAF?

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Just take the stupid resistor off the SLP maf (SLP added this, its not on truck maf or C5Z maf), you will need a soldering iron to do so, or clip it off. The tuner can use a C5Z MAF table if car is or truck MAF table after....

I had no trouble from removing the resistor and using
the standard truck table, but eventually started doing
experiments on the SLP piece and went to a plain old
truck MAF off eBay and descreened it. Been fine for,
I dunno, 5-8 years on the car. After the H/C/I the
Z06 table was a bit more accurate.

Thanks for the reply guys. If I go with the truck MAF can I just use the slp harness?

I just switched from SLP MAF to an GM/truck MAF, the harness from the SLP plugged right in and seems to run fine. I'll be getting the tune touched up anyways.
