Default Square Truck Vs Round Truck Coils?

I read the sticky above about the truck coil upgrade. I have a couple questions and one of them is NOT related to the upgrade so I didn't post in that thread.

1. I have heard the Square Truck Coils were better than the round truck coils with the Heat Sink. I have read that in a couple of different places and would like to have it clarified.

2. I have both sets of coils. I have a couple sets of round ones and a couple sets of square ones. All of them off of a truck or SUV. Are the coils set up so one has to be used on the passenger side and the other used on the drivers side or can they be interchanged? I ask because I have two sets of truck square coils but two of them are really clean and two are really dirty. The two dirty ones have the same wire set up and the two clean ones have the same wire set up. I never looked but am assuming the two clean ones came off the same engine and therefore can be used on either side. I am not sure though.

Thanks in advance.

I've dissected the wiring on some truck coils and left and right were wired to fire the coils in the same order on the pin locations meaning side didn't matter. I've never fooled with the ones with the heat sink but I presume them to be the same.

Side to side does not matter. I have mixed and matched many times.

The square truck coils are hotter than the ls1 stock coils but the round coils with the heat sink are significantly hotter.

That said, I tried the hotter coils and there was no hard evidence they were giving any kind of advantage other than placebo effect and I liked the way the square ones fit better. The square coils also mount properly by only slightly bending the fuel rail inlet where as the round coils need modification to fit.

For those reasons, I am running the square coils painted gunmetal with stainless bolts:

Thanks. I like the look of the square ones better. Good info.

I'm running LS2 coils and have read they are a little hotter as well. The main reason I put them on was they had a lot less miles than my stock ones and look a little cleaner.
