Default The engines out so hat else should I do?

OK so I have the engine/trans out of my 02 Camaro.

I am wondering what else I should do before I reinstall it.

I am installing TrickFlow 215 heads, Fast 102/92 intake, Fast 92 TB, Fast 60 lb injectors, Comp Cams Intake .605 lift 238@050 exhaust .610 lift 242@050 LSA 112, I have new CompCams lifter, new lifter trays, New LS2 water pump, LS2 timing chain, new stock oil pump, Kook's true dual headers & Exhaust, new motor mounts, new trans mount, new underdrive Harmonic balancer, new tensioner & idler pulleys, new ARP bolts for most everything, I'm replacing the stock rod bolts with ARP.

As long as its out I plan on replacing the starter and alternator as well. Should I go stock or upgrade?

I've heard about changing to LS6 PCV and lifter valley cover and knock sensor. Info on that would help. Are there really any benefits to doing that?

I have a 4L80E that I'm thinking about installing if I can get it rebuilt in time. Not sure on what torque converter to run. I figure I should upgrade to a SFI flex plate as well, any suggestions on that, brands etc would be helpful.

Any input on any additional upgrades would be most helpful.

Have the crank polished, new main bearings, new rear & front seals, paint all of your components..IE: valve covers, ac-altenator-brackets, oil pan, water pump, paint the tran and oil dipstick. Make the engine shiny!

I have a Quicktime SFI flexplate if you're interested. PM me.

Also, upgrade the PCV with the valley cover/catch can. And for cooling, I ran an LS6 front coolant steam tube on the back instead of plugs and tied it in to the front tube's return to the radiator. Peace of mind right there IMO.

I'd certainly do the '04 LS6 PCV conversion while you've got easy access. It's very easy to do -- check my build thread.

I checked out your thread nice build.

Did you install a catch can? I didn't see any mention of it. If you did what can did you go with?

Nope, I haven't done that yet. I'm getting a little bit of oil, but nothing that really concerns me. I try to put things into perspective -- it's a LS-engine. They all have the issue, yet it's only the performance guys that notice it. Considering there are more LS engines on the road in the form of trucks and SUVs and I'm sure that the majority of those people have no idea what a catch can is (or PCV system for that matter) means the engines just keep going and going even with the oil going down the intake.

At the end of the day, I have nothing against catch cans. I'd likely go with a Norris can, but it's not a priority for me.

I installed both an 04 valley cover and catch can on my c5. It cleaned up the engine bay significantly (like it even matters on my car, I have fuel rail covers lol) and cut oil consumption to nearly nothing, whatever does make it through the PCV gets caught in my catch can. It's a Norris catch can BTW.

I think I'll hold off on the catch can for know.

I will do the LS6 PCV though.

Any other suggestions?
