Default Power Bond and SLP Pulley / Summit Tool

Hey all,

I just wanted to put this one to bed because quite a few people have been curious to know according to my archive search.

The SLP Pulley IS a re-boxed Power Bond. No question about it...the Pulley has PowerBond's Logo and part # right on it!

AND the SLP 100221 (LS1 F-body) and 100226 (LS1/LS2 GTO) ARE the same pulley. They are both engraved with PBU1480-SS25

Also....I tried Summit Racing's house brand of the pulley installer! WOW! Worked great and better than the HAWK tool. Its long enough that you don't have to adjust it!

Whats long enough you don't have to adjust it? I'm not following. The Hawks tool is as simple and as well made as you could ever ask for. What makes Summit's tool "better"?

During installation with the hawk tool with press/bearing backed all the way, you can only thread it into the crank so far. I had to press the pulley partially on then re-adjust to thread the rod further into the crank so I didn't pull the threads. The summit tools threaded rod is longer. I could thread it into the crank all the way from the beginning. Both tools are great, but the summit tool was cheaper and a little better from a user prospective. I bet you could even use it on the ls7 which hawk has a separate tool for

interesting, I do not recall having to do that with my hawk tool and OEM truck crank pulley.

The Hawk tool works, but I didn't want to pull the threads out of my crank. I didn't feel comfortable with the thread engagement of the Hawk. Once I had it on far enough to expose more threaded rod, I re-adjusted.

My Hawks bottoms out in the crank and is exactly the right length for my Powerbond. That's why I thought your post was odd.

nice gains! I never got to the track after I installed my powerbond UD pulley, but definately noticed quicker reving and throttle response...I made my own tool for about $30, using M16 x 2.0 all thread, some nuts, washers and a spacer...works like a charm

This looks long enough for both LS1/2/3 and LS7.
