Fitting 85MM MAF to 75 MM Lid
Gen IV Firebird.
You may need to get a coupler to go outside of
both. This would be an oddball size - the SLP MAF
came with a cut-off segment of a funky specialty
Fernco coupler, about 3-1/4" ID. You might check
out Baker Precision (makers of silicone turbo hoses).
Or go low rent and scrounge a proper diameter
busted inner tube from your local motorcycle
mechanic and hack away. Depends how ugly
you're willing to go.
The 85mm MAF is fine if the vehicle is tuned right
for it. It limits at lower air mass flows but you are
not likely to run into that without enough modding
that speed density tuning starts to look like a good
idea.
But the MAF may be a SLP one, if you see the little
resistor tacked on. If not then the car likely has a
tune modified for the 85mm and re-swapping back
to 75mm you'll have to touch it again.
