Default Alternator or Alternator plug?

Got a refurbished alt from Napa and a new four wire plug from the dealer. I couldn't find the single wire, so below is what they gave me.

My problem is that the car only charges when I first turn it on and let it idle. After a few minutes of driving it stop and starts draining my battery. This has been going on for a few days. Since I see it charging when I turn it on and like twice while sitting idle for a few minutes I notice it would start to charge again. Is this a problem with the 4 wire plug or the alt? I recently learned that the single wire plug is available through autozone, but before I spend anymore money I could just change out the alt since I have a lifetime warranty. What do you all think?

BTW I didn't remove/cut the extra 3 wires yet, b/c I thought I may need them later.
