FAST 102 on LS1?
I want to eventually run a large h/c setup on my ls1, but for now I just want to get the car running solid with full bolt ons, drivetrain mods and suspension. I would like to run a 102 on the set up now with just bolt ons, I know it's over kill for what I've got currently, but it won't hurt right? Lmk what you think gentlemen.

Put it on there. Won't hurt...Ive read where some have seen gains and where some have seen hp and torque losses with that 102. Buddy of mine put one on his LS2 with LS3 heads in a cammed C6 vette and it lost 17HP. Thats on the dyno with his tuner trying to get it to make power. Cant hurt if you plan on upgrades in the future and they look good but cost toooooooooomuch money IMO.

LS3 version of the FAST is well documented to be no better than the LS3 intake, so that's a bad example. For cathedral port heads (LS1/2/6) or the LS7 heads, the FAST is a good upgrade over the GM intakes. In the cathedral port configuration, the 102 is good for about 12-15rwhp over the LS6. So over 20rwhp better than an LS1.
There are a lot of options out there with different intakes, but the only one that even remotely fits without hacking your car to provide a boost over the stock intake is FAST. That's why they charge so much for it.

$$$-1k plus by the time you get the correct fuel rails and harness and other goodies to install the FAST102 on a LS1/LS6 cathedral port head for 20 more HP on its best day I cannot see the payoff. Thats alot of cash for each Little HP.. Youd be better off getting the LS6 ported by a reputable porter and spending the rest of the money on other mods. IMO. Unlimited budget its fine. On a Budget I cannot see it unless your building a max effort all out HP car.

First off if you are going for every bit of power and are not on a budget like 3/4 of the people on this site then the fast 102 is a must or at least a 92. It may seem a lot of money for twenty or so horsepower but if you can afford it don't turn back. Remember you don't have to use a 102 t/b you can also use a 90 or 92 t/b and loss very minimal amount. my motto is once and done. Do it right the first time instead of wasting your money on an ls6 intake when you will only get a fast in a year or two like I did. Im not putting down the ls6 intake either. Its a good intake for what it is but not good enough for bigger numbers and faster times

Good points made. 3 out of 4 arent on a budget??? Really. If no budget at all then 3 out of 4 would have 800-1250 HP cars with the best stuff in them. Thats certainly not true and the classified sections are full of stuff being sold every day. Alot of it isnt the best or its been well seasoned as they say for sure...and is budget friendly and is bought and sold daily on this site. Great site!

I ended up going with a fast 102 setup on my build. Went with siemen 60# injectors and the fast rail kit. Had to grind the water pump for clearance and am now having injector mounting issues. So far I'm not feeling i got my bang for the buck due to all the issues but I still havnt gotten everything together and dyno'd yet either. Maybe the numbers will change my mind...

I laughed because it was a random number... Not 1200... Not 1300... But 1250hp.
For no budget that's an extremely low number. You can make over 1000 with a 347 and stock 317 heads stock ls6 intake stock throttle body and a baby cam. I don't consider that a no budget build... That's a whopping 400-500$ in the complete top end and stock crank.
Sincerely,
Jr.

Mainly leaks. I don't know what the issue was exactly, but there were a lot of complaints on here about leaking... I think the rails don't fit perfect with certain injectors and they pull out of the manifold.
Either way, that's something that should be triple checked before running.

It's not the rails, the rails are fine. What it is, is the crappy little metal stanchions. they sometimes don't come bent at the right angle and you may have to tweak them a little so the injector at the rail won't leak. I know this first hand because I had that problem with the rear 2 injectors on drivers side. Took me all of but maybe 10 minutes to fix no leaks since.
