Default Can I tap the port plugs - truck intake?

I am looking for any information or pictures to tell me if there is enough meat in the vacuum plug/port for the fpr in a truck intake to drill and tap for a 1/8" npt or 1/4" npt.
I'm converting all my vacuum sources over to push-connect fittings and I want to change this over.

Its very strong plastic, but I don't know if theres enough meat on that nipple to tap it out. You could probably tap the side of the intake though... I'm about to post a thread on plastic welding the intake.

I was planning on grinding the actual nipple off and tapping the "plug" piece that is secured in the main housing.
Also, if this work, tapping and plugging the opposite plug on the passenger side for aesthetics.

YEa, I think that'd work then. That cap is pretty thick, close to 1/4" maybe. Wish I had taken a side pic of that cap now.

that cap is just stuck on there by heat them up enough to melt a little bit and then stick. I found out when I removed them for the intake shave.

Might not be enough meat to tap, but you can probably plastic weld a thicker piece of nylon66 on there, or epoxy the new fitting on. I found that locktite plastic epoxy worked well on these intakes when I shaved mine.

I really like the relocation of the ports to the rear of the intake that guy did. I might do the same if I ever re-do mine.

I dig it. Looks like I could give it a shot. Worst case scenario I drill it out and plastic weld a thick wall piece of plastic tubing in the hole for support.
My only concern is that this intake is going to see a decent amount of boost in the near future.
Thanks for the insight guys.

Thanks! Thats my intake on my 87 Chevy Truck. Your intake/engine bay looks familiar. Are you near Alabama? and where you at LS Fest 2012? I think the guy I'm thinking of had Camaro interior also and S10 wheels.

Nope, I'm in the liquid sunshine state of Washington. I have Camaro seats in my car, and old-school Enkei 14/15" wheels and this is my 1978 Olds Cutlass.

Looks like it worked for now. Feels like the fittings fit with plenty of tension. We'll see how they hold under boost. I may need to increase to 1/4"npt. Right now they're 1/8" npt.
