Default Need help with exhaust

I know this question is subject to various opinion, but I'm looking at replacing my current exhaust with something a little less raspy. Currently, I've got Pacesetter LT's, O/R Y and an SLP Loudmouth 1 turned down. It's fine at idle, but the minute I get on it, it sounds like a wet towel flapping in the wind and I hate it with a passion. Can anyone give suggestions? I've always been a Flowmaster 40-Series type of guy, but I'm more than willing to entertain different ideas. Thanks!

Bryan

Imo, if your Y-pipe merger looks more like a collider like in this photo link, then a better Y-merger would be a good start, and if you plan to stick with it dumped before the rear-end then, install a actual muffler in the I-pipe. I'd also rotate the turn down up toward passenger side at least at least to 40* but no more than a 65* angle to help cut down on the drone.
IMO your best bet is to go a FM 3.5" or 4" outlet Y-merger then into 3.5" or 4" Mufflex cat-back exhaust system. This way you'll have a lot better selection of muffler you can go with, and better flow. if you want a FM 40 I'd go with a center in/out configuration for the best flow. BTW, if you don't see exactly what muffler you want on their website, then call them up.
FM 853540-10 for a 3.5" center in/out, and FM 854040-10 for a 4" center in/out muffler.

Just about any muffler in place of the lm resonator will make a huge difference, those things are terrible.

Ran that exact combo and hated it as well lol. Put in a FM merge and put in a Magnaflow bullet muffler in place of the LM 1...Nite and day difference

Definitely don't want to stick with it dumped. I'm not a fan of a turndown to say the least. I've always preferred a rear exit exhaust.

Thanks for the responses. I'm hoping to take care of this soon. She sounds mean at idle, but is more than too loud while driving....and that's with my foot out of it.

I have that same sound! lol

I'm in the same boat with the others. I'll be getting a FM merge to 4", and put a Magnaflow or Borla bullet muffler in there.
