If you do try to clean it up and repair it, check out a product called Amazing Goop. It self levels where you apply it (given you can level the part it is applied to) It is clear, and usually sets up great, nice and solid, while still maintaining a little flexibilty. It can be found in the plumbing goods at a home improvement store. I used to use it all the time for plastic repairs or strengthening in different applications at my old job.
