Default Spark plugs help

Hey guys I have been looking at spark plugs and I read that the ac delco Iridium
are the way to go but when I went to purchase them from advance auto they said that they don't fit a 2000 trans am. The only ac delco they have that for is the regular ones and the double platinum. Any suggestions on why I can't get the Iridium ones ?

I would just stick a set of NGK's in there and consider it done.

If you want simple maintenance free just tell them you want the OEM equivalent which is platinum. Personally I still prefer copper tip plugs though I haven't come up with a concrete reason why other then they are cheap and I like changing plugs!

Correct.

The problem is that they are only seeing what the computer tells them. GM went to iridium plugs in the mid-2000's. They subsequently updated all service recommendations from platinum to iridium on all LS-powered vehicles.

HOWEVER

They recently (May 2013) posted yet another update that 2006 and older that were to have upgraded to iridium (from their OE platinum) are to no longer go with the iridium; rather, they are to go with the double platinum 41-962. SOURCE

Confused? I personally installed the 41-110 iridiums without any issue. Of course, that was before the new bulletin came out.

more likely one of them got cracked during install, personally I have never seen a car just start running like crap with fresh plugs unless something was damaged on the plug or wire

Some cars just don't like certain plugs. I would agree, though, that it's very odd that a LS1 would have issues with the ix since that's quite popular. Nonetheless, I had an '02 Cougar 2.5 V6 ( shhh... ) that ran like crap with brand new Bosch plugs (not even the +4; just the platinums). I switched to Motorcraft and it purred like a kitten (pun intended).

That could be a cause that's why this weekend I'll check them or just change them to ac delco while I'm at it. I just hope it'll fix it cause I hate seeing my baby run rough.

What plugs did you go with when you made the change?
