Default new intake on the block

I found something interesting on Dorman's website. Check out 615-900. It sells at Rockauto for $338.89. OE number is 88894339, which I believe is the LS6. Has anyone tried it?

Best I can do. It shows a few different angles, and you can zoom.

Looks like it's kind of cheaply made but who know's maybe it's just as good or better than a LS6.

I've put my hands on other intakes they'd made. Their are quality pieces. I'd love to see someone flow it to see if it's truly the same. It would definitely knock down the prices on used ones!

I was just about to post this.. Made for 01-02 camaros and free shipping?!? If anyone can verify this as a ls6 intake and it's good quality get ready to watch other ls6 prices drop!

It looks nice!

The current price at rockauto is $313, partsgeek.com has it at $315.00, free shipping.

It clearly has "made in USA" on the top.

Many times auto manufacturers will turn to outside vendors to make their parts. Eventually, these venders will be allowed to sell the same parts directly. Dorman has many parts available that seem identical to the original parts from suspension components to intake manifolds. I'm certain this is the case with this LS6 manifold.

that looks to have nowhere near the build quality of a factory LS6...but then again pics don't always do justice.

Could be an ls6 replacement with the egr provision to work with egr cars. That's what I hope anyway. My 98 is still breathing through the stocker.

All the other intakes they make that I've used (LSx truck, 3800, and mod motor) work and "fit", but use different Dorman specific gaskets, different self tapping hardware (instead of pressed in threaded bronze inserts), and HURT performance. I doubt that this would be any different.

The flat bottom proves it is a ls6 intake. 300 bucks shipped for a brand new ls6 intake.. can't beat it.

I'm not sure if that "proves" this is equal to a real-McCoy GM sourced LS6 intake manifold.

Typically, Dormon products do match pretty well.

I would imagine it's better than a LS1 manifold but somebody will need to purchase and examine/test it to say it's equal in performance to the GM version.

Regardless, if somebody wants to upgrade to something better than the LS1 manifold, this is a viable option-and it's not some beat up part that's been on three cars with 300,000 total miles driven.

IMO, it's obvious it's a well priced LS6 replace intake manifold and would likely be a better performance option than a LS1 intake, but only testing will truly tell you if it actually equals a factory gm LS6 intake.

I think it would be in the best interest of some of the vendors to buy and test this thing. If it's performs as good as a real LS6 intake, get them in stock, post the numbers and proceed to be flooded with orders.
