T56 question?

T56 question? recently(about 4days ago) under WOT my t56 4th gear felt like it broke as soon as engaging it. But it didn't? It just felt like the shifter traveled unusually farther back. Almost as if I totaly eviscerated the synchro and shift fork pads or blockers. But the odd this is that it still works. With the car on sometimes with a bit of wiggling I can get it to travel all the way back to where ithe shifter contacts with the center console lid? What did I do? And does this mean a rebuild is on its way? I just rebuilt it about 5,000 miles ago.
