Rear cover alignment Need some advise on my measurements I took. Oil pan is off on my ls1 and my trans is removed. I'm installing a rpm lv5 4l60e. So while the trans is out I'm changing the rear main seal and cover gasket. From what
My Manuel says the cover can't stick past the bottom of block more than .020" my readings are flush on driver side and +.008" on passenger side. This is the first time I do this would you guys proceed on putting the pan on the motor?

Hang the cover with the seal on the crank. Now it can rotate on the crank. Rotate it so both bottom edges are equal to the oil pan rail. Tighten the cover bolts.
A little Ultra Blue at these spots and bolt up the pan.

I used the sac city corvette alinement tool when installing the cover. It's pretty square I double checked it last night I feel good about putting oil pan on. I'll give you an update when I finish.
Except I used RTV Ultra Black and not the blue stuff Paul mentioned.
