difference between 5.7 and 6.0 etc
difference between 5.7 and 6.0 etc Guys im new to ls motors. My friend has a 6.0 with 317 heads out of a hummer h2 and a set of 243 heads off a gto. He said I can take both for 500. 6.0 needs to be rebuilt. My question is how is the bottem ends in the 6.0? are they stronger then the 5.7 in my 99 Camaro. Will they handle more power and boost? Was possibly thinking of swapping that engine in with my cam and intake and accessories and maybe throwing some boost at it down the road.
what year is the hummer? starting in 05 the hummer motor (lq4) got the same floating wrist pins found in lq9's and ls2 motors. Not really stronger but a nice upgrade. Othet than that the rods will hold 550-600 whp and the crank is good for 1000 hp. I wouldnt worry at all. if you're planning boost then I would recommend forged pistons and rods.
you should note though that to build the engine for boost will limit it n/a for now. You will have to go with a lower comp ratio piston and or head to allow for a good boost motor. you will also benefit from a cam designed for boost.
