header upgrade (with pics) Hey all,
After using 1 5/8" primaries , 2.5" outlet Tri-Y style headers on cnc head and cammed Holden commodore VY SS , 6 speed manual sedan, I decided to go ahead and change the size of the headers to 1 3/4" primaries, 3" outlets, 4 into 1 design headers.
These particular exhaust headers (or as some say extractors), are ceramic coated and include a new patented 'V tek' merge.
Having a wife who hates cars ........im always trying to do it as cheap as possible but not shitty.
I picked these ones up from a bloke for a third of the price for brand new pair as he had only used them on a engine mock up and chose to go 1 7/8" instead. So I snapped them up really quick.
Once again to save $$ and for me being known as sex fingers by my wife , coz anything i try to fix I ****..you can safely say that I am not some dude who can just rip off some heads and put in a cam myself. I decided to take the risk, give it a crack and do it myself.
So off I went , to my driveway, and proceeded the swap over on the headers.
Using just basic tools and 2 car stands which made it tight to move under there, I also had to remove the steering rack on the right hand side as there was no was these were going to fit otherwise.
Other than fart ***-ing with the steering rack and having someone there that could help to pass the headers thru from the top, it really was quiet straight forward and easy.
And the end result was fantastic and we'll worth it. Check out some pics. There's one of the old ones next to the newer ones too.
