Question Daily drivers with headers come inside please

I am looking for feedback from people that use their cars as daily drivers and have headers. How many miles a year do you put on your car and what driveability issues (if any) have you experienced? Do you throw many SES lights? Any exhaust leaks? I want to see how these things hold up to numerous heat cycles that I would be putting them through as a daily driver.

I have a 2001 Z28 M6 that has 64,000 miles on it. I set two P0420 lights the other day. Rather than just replace the cats and the sensors I thought of putting headers on and doing away with the cats. What I do NOT want however is to create driveability issues for myself with the amount of miles I drive per year. Plus this is my only car so I can't be working on it all the time.

So what suggestions do you guys and gals have? I was looking at a complete hooker package. Hooker headers with the hooker Y pipe running into a hooker muffler. Any thoughts on this set up.

No problems with mine. It's an every other day driver. No cats either. Drives great, even before the tune.

the year i put the headers/exhaust on i put 20k miles on the car, car didnt miss a beat. Ran better if anything! Only problem for me is my jet hots are rusting pretty good after a year and half, but that doesn't really bother me to much. Go for it!

As long as you install them right and make sure you don't half-*** anything, you'll be fine. Headers is a pretty safe mod.

i drive my car every day. and im a chronic driver. i drive just to drive alot as well. with headers and true duals (under the axle), other than a few issues with the true duals (which was my fault for having a brain fart when installing the hangers) the car has ran flawlessly.

if the car is gonna be run daily the headers, coated or not, will probably rust quicker but if you aren't worried about how good they look, its not a big deal. I would like to think it would take a hell of a long time for that **** to rust through.

my opinion...go for it, you wont be disappointed at all.

I have SLP LT's with cats, D/D cat-back and I never had any problems at all. I'll probably be adding a pair of off-road pipes very soon ,though

I drive 20,000 miles a year and have had only one issue. I bought MSD wires and burned through the #8 wire. Switched to Taylor Thundervolts and so far I have had no issues. I wish I had done headers as the first mod to the car. Only the 4.10 gears gave a better SOTP response.

I have FLP's with cats and drive nearly 20k a year.
Only problem I had is that I had both front O2 sensors go, but I simply swapped the fronts with the extra two i had (after the stock cats) and it was all good.
I've had no other problems, car runs great just faster.

I have Kooks Stainless steel headers with Magnaflow cats, and a Magnaflow Cat-back exhaust. I drive 40 miles a day back and forth to work. The car has 48k on the clock and no issues with the headers. MSD wires with no problems so far. Next wire chance I may go to Accel.
