Default Cylinder Head Damage Fixable??

Hey fella's i need some help.. I have a set of 243 2.5 ported heads.. I noticed my car had a dead spot at partial throttle so i dont some looking around and trouble shooting and found that the #6 plug was loose.. So i tried to tighten it and it wouldn't... So i tore the head off and put a Helicoil in.. Put the head back on and it worked long enough for me to get about 100 miles on it and a dyno tune.. then a week or so later it started doing it again.. I done a compression check and found i still have a leak in that cylinder.. I already dont the Helicoil so is their another option to fixing my problem.. I called a few machine shops and they didn't sound to confident they could fix it... Any Help would be appreciated!

check with these guys I think you can still put one in even if you stripped the helicoil threads out. Have a shop do it on a mill, though

Well it isn't stripped i just dont think it can hold to 12:1 compression.. The helicoil was put in pretty good.

I agree with the time sert, I have used them to fix blocks that had threads pulled out due to head warpage, didn't think it would work at first but finally decided to man up and put the full torque to it, it held, wouldn't say it can be used on every application but should let you tighten a spark better than what a helicoil can. And the block I used it on was a Toyota 2az motor, famous for pulling threads out the center head bolt holes

Well, if the tap wobbled when you cut the helicoil threads, you will never get a good seal and be able to tension the threads properly. With wobbly threads the helicoil spreads. That is likely your problem.

This happens often when the drilling is done by hand and the tapping by hand. Whenever i put a helicoil in, I either make a jig to hold the drill and tap straight OR, put everything on a drill press or mill and make double durn sure everything is straight and perpendicular. After all, you are still counting on a tapered seat seal for the spark plug and if your drilling and tapping are off-axis, your seal is cooked.

I suggest you call timesert and talk to them about putting the timesert in from the combustion chamber side. And talk to a machine shop about renewing the plug seat area. At any rate, to save that head it probably needs to come off.
