A NGK TR6 is a good choice in my opinion

I thought TR6 was a good choice until my tuner said I'd be down 10hp with TR6. It's a colder plug and typically fouls quicker on N/A cars. I use NGK TR55.

it would only foul if its running really really rich. I've had a shitty way too rich tune in my n/a car for 8k miles and pulled my tr6 ix iridiums with .40 gap to look and they are a nice brown just like they should be. My tune is crap at 11.8 afr at wot for the whole pull. That will be fixed on Monday though

I'm going to disagree with your tuner scotty, but I understand you putting your trust in him

Just going by what he said. Whats your opinion? A few other guys on here said the same thing to me. Maybe he was being specific to my set up?

It's common to run the TR55 for bolt ons and cam only and plenty still run them on head/cam cars. I did.

A lot of people also run the TR6 on head/cam cars. I'm switching to them now because the LS2 has higher compression than my LS1 did and I've heard they can be more prone to KR anyway and I'd like to be as safe as possible until the tune is dialed in 100%.

It's really going to vary on the engine, fuel, and tune IMO. Not a cut and dry "this is best".

To be honest I don't think you'll notice any difference between the two plugs on the dyno or in general driving. I drive my car n/a 99% of the time and run BR7'S and noticed no difference whatsoever from the TR6 plugs. With your mods you could get away with either, but I'd stick with what your tuner says

TR55's here, and seem to be working well on my heads/cam/full bolt-ons setup.

Hmm I recall saying the same thing in one of your other threads..

That being said I am running NGK TR55IX with 11.4:1 compression on pump gas with no kr.

You only need a colder plug if spark knock becomes a issue. As Thunderstruck mentioned there is no "best" plug, every car can behave a little different even if the setup is the same.

Yep, you are who I was referring too.

IDK, I don't think my tuner is blowing smoke up my ***. Maybe he has data to back up that statement. He's not one to BS.

Your tuner is right imo...you always run the hottest plug with widest gap your setup will allow, that will yield the most efficient combustion = more power and better fuel mileage.

I plan to try tossing the tr55s back in mine once I know the tune is safe. I have about 3 used sets around the garage that would be good enough to experiment with and on my car it's only about a 10 minute job to switch.

I look at what Chevy does and use the plug that they use... LS7 has 500hp and uses ACDELCO Part # 41104 and it's equal to a NGK TR6. LS9 has 638hp and uses ACDELCO Part # 41104 and it's equal to a TR6. I have 603rwhp and use ACDELCO Part # 41104, but have used TR6 many times without any problems.

The WeaponX plugs FAIL.

I've also had the NGK plugs fail.

The most reliable plugs I've ever used and will only use is ACDelco.

My car is certainly running extremely well with the TR6. No way of knowing if a TR55 would run better other than back to back track runs or dyno pulls but I doubt it would make much difference.
