Default 2-step msd... Help...

03 c5... Alright so I tapped the wire going to the clutch switch and ran that into my dash to an arming switch. Ran the blue wire provided from msd to the same switch. When the switch is in the on position it should sense the clutch is fully depressed and activate the 2 step... Well it doesn't. No idea what's wrong. Checked the wiring and its 100%. I even tapped into the other clutch switch wire and still doesn't work. I tried using it as a 12v power source and a ground. The harnesses to the coil packs are 100% as well. The unit does work I checked by putting the 12v wire to the battery and it does work. Any thoughts? Wiring is not my thing and I think I've swore more than everyone in the world today. Please help before I lose my mind

So you've tried wiring the blue wire through the arming switch and to ground (ignore the clutch switch for now). If it works we know that much must be good. Let me sketch up a wiring diagram quick and see if I understand your wiring.

If I remember right you're supposed to supply a ground to the blue wire and that engages the 2 step? If we have a wiring diagram out of the actual car that would be helpful, because honestly we don't know where these wires actually go.

So what your saying is unhook the clutch switch wire. Replace that with a simple wire that's going to a ground and see if it works?

Exactly. Wire blue wire to switch, and switch to chassis ground. Or even B- if you're feeling picky.

Okay so I took the clutch switch wire off. I attached the grounded wire which I did run to the b-... The 2-step is active with the arming switch on and also with it flipped to off..

That's an interesting result. Unplug the blue wire from the switch, keep it from touching anything so the circuit stays open. It shouldn't be working then.

So I kept it wired to the b- and just detached the blue wire from the switch.. The thing is still activated with the red led on. Again regardless of the switch being in the on or off position. I am not fully starting the car I have young kids and cannot at this hour. I'm just turning the ignition to the on position if that matters.

Well since we can't know for sure if the 2step is actually deactivated let's turn to the switch. Is that a light up switch that has the red led?

No. It's little switch with just a on off position and it already had two wires to coming out of it to attach a power or ground to. There not marked. I do have a blue led toggle switch as well that I can use instead, I bought both new today.

The two step has a red led indicator that lets you know when it's activated that's what I was referring to in my other post

If it's still activated when it's disconnected it could be a short either in that blue wire or something inside the ignition box. Trace the wire back to the box and make sure it's not pinched or otherwise finding power or ground. If everything checks out ok, it may be time to give msd a call.

Alright I'll check that over tomorrow. I'm probably gonna give msd a call too. Thanks for the time and help. Much appreciated.
