Default Which starter?

I want to replace the starter in my LS1 with a stock(ish) unit. I have long tube headers. After a search, I see many of you suggesting the "truck" starter which is better because of the longer bolt? Is this a direct fit, and what "truck?"
Thanks

I'm not 100% on the years but it is a direct fit and you will need the truck starter bolts.

Many starters you buy now will have the new bracket design with two long bolts anyway. If you google the truck style you can clearly see the diffence in bracket designs which will help you pick out a new one. It is a direct fit however it can be a little more difficult to wedge up in there due to the bracket.

I purchased a starter from Summit a while back, seems to be a well built piece. Of coarse it did not come with the new style bolts, just fyi.

Fyi I had to do a little grinding for clearance but it was worth it to have the longer second bolt.

Mine is an 02 camaro a4.

The truck starter is the way to go especially if you have a little more compression than stock, I got mine from a junkyard and haven't had any issues. For easier installation you may want to cut off the alignment tab on side the block, it was only there for the factory to use on the assembly line and it won't hurt the integrity of the block or anything. I'm not sure of the years etc but I asked for one off an 05 1500 Silverado and it works great.
