Default Who all is running these....

Speed Engineering Headers? I am thinking of picking a set up and have read a few reviews online and they seem pretty solid for the price..

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LS1-Camaro-Firebird-Longtube-Headers-Y-Pipe-1-3-4-Race-Version-F-Body-/261661391989?hash=item3cec3bfc75&vxp=mtr
HOWEVER, I'd like some feedback on some of you actually running them and who have installed them personally. Any issues or headaches I am going to be in store for?

These are some of the hottest headers around at the moment, surprised you haven't found any threads during your search..

Try searching via Google, you will get better hits that way vs the search feature here.

Definitely hard to beat for the money. Only issues I've seen is that depending on the condition of your motor mounts and the condition of the car you may have to clearance the back edge of the k-member. The y-pipe usually tucks up very close to the bottom of the car which my require some time to get adjusted properly. Overall if you are on a budget and want a good performing set of headers these are a good set to consider.

See, I have read the exact opposite. I've heard that they are only needed for huge build and it will actually hurt performance with cam only or even light heads

If you look at the fastest and most powerful bolt on cars they run mostly 1 7/8. A good friend of mine who is also on this forum runs 11.0 bolt ons and picked up power and torque when he switched from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8.

1 7/8 has been dyno proven to make more power on a bolt-on LS1.

However the 1 7/8' are going to be loosing torque compared to the 1 3/4" headers. The bigger diameter headers I hear yield more HP up top though?

The 1 7/8 won't lose any torque. The torque may shift up in the rpm range a little, very little but you will see a torque increase .

Look at the speed engineering header thread . on page 50 there is a dyno of a guy with a few bolt ons with the 1 7/8th. He was making 300+whtq at 2500 and it continued to climb . there's nothing wrong with 300whtq at 2500

They are great headers for the price. Bought 1 7/8" primary, Speed Engineering LT's; then cut 'em up & re-shaped them to match the pattern of the original 1 5/8" primaries on the Munster.

I have the SE 1 7/8" and SE Y-pipe. Easiest headers I've ever installed (compared to 3 other 'un-named' brands). The y-pipe on the other hand took some cutting/splicing to fit around my DS loop and to clear the floor (I insist on 0 banging). I would recommend the poly mounts while your in there also which will minimize the infamous floor banging on these cars. GL

Thanks for all the good info...Making me look seriously into the 1 7/8" headers now.

Maybe you should just call speed engineering and ask what they recommend. But from my personal experiences I would recommend 1 7/8

If your gonna spray the new car (as it appears you did your last one), I would definitely get the 1 7/8"
