Right now I've got a 1 3/4 header ory and a dumped borla xr1 all 3". This things going to be my dd so I need it quieter. I'm considering doing speed eng 1 7/8 and ory. My question is with a heads cam car would going to like a 4" single and cutout back down to 3" to keep it quiet be worth doing or just keeping the 1 3/4 and staying 3" all the way with a chambered muffler at the back. The set up isn't to radical ls6 intake torquer 2 and prc 215s. If I'm leaving something like 15-20rwhp on the table I want to make the swap.

Well obviously any cutout is going to make thing louder so that's out lol.

The cutout will be there for power and leave it closed for driving lol. I can hit the loud button when I want to raise hell and close it when I'm just normal driving.

I don't think you'd see a 20 hp gain between the two. Maybe 10 or so

I gained 20rwhp switching from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 but I also had a ported FAST 92 and kooks tds with my H/C already on the car. I made a thread with a dyno sheet, just search my name. Tuner wasn't surprised at all though.

I ordered the 1 7/8 headers and I'm going with a 4" merge back down to 3 with a hooker max flow and running a 4" cutout.

Not to thread jack but I have 1 3/4 BBKS right now. with a cutout. Would it really show a 10hp gain with 1 7/8 headers?
