Default Power Steering Cooling Question

The swap is a 2000 SS LS1 with the stock P/S setup. I wanted to know if the P/S could be routed through a cooler meant for the transmission? In particular, a combo cooler from DeWitt, I put the link below. From what I can find the stock P/S system can run in excess of 1300 psi, I'm not sure what these coolers or what coolers can handle.

I just ran mine through a Derale unit from summit with no issues when I deleted the factory cooler. I think it ran somewhere in the range of $50 and took under an hour to install and mount. Search on here and you will find a couple of different options for mounting it. Hope this helps.

I thought about that if I cant get a def answer. The reason I was asking is because the difference in price between the rad/oil and rad/oil/trans was only a little bit more.

Maybe the difference in price is because the difference between radiator with only oil cooler
and radiator with oil cooler and trans cooler is one more cooler in the other tank.
If I understood what you wrote correctly.

That 1300 psi is only going to be on the supply (pressure) line out of the pump. You'll want to tie any coolers in line on the return side into the pump, which has a much lower pressure.

Whatever cooler you choose, you'll want to put it into the low pressure return line. Pressures there are usually pretty low. But upon rare occasions can reach as high as 100 psi.

What you're looking at is not really a cooler, but a heat exchanger. The goal there is to try and stabilize the heat between the oil and the coolant. Since PS oil can get pretty hot, that will add an extra thermal load to your radiator. If the car can handle it, fine. If not, then use a separate air/oil cooler.

The bottom line is, yeah, you can use that cooler for your PS.
