Spend a few hundred more and get a NW or another reputable brand.

WS6 store has the Nick William TB's for $370.00 and the WARR Performance TB is $137.00, so it's only a difference of $233.00 for all the mathematicians out there. With that said, if the WARR Performance TB works good, no sense in spending the extra $233.00.

Why's that so funny??? First place I looked I found them for $369.00. If you're paying over $400.00 for a Nick Williams TB, you're shopping around alright; shopping at the most expensive place.

Exactly.. I ended up getting my NW TB for way less then 400.00 from Maryland speed. They made me a package deal on a Fast 92/92 setup I could not refuse. IIRC I believe I paid right around 1140.00 for the setup.

What he means is it's been proven to be a problem free throttle body. The same can't be said for 95% of the other throttle bodies on the market. Even the FAST throttle bodies, which are expensive, have been giving people and tuners lots of issues. There are some tuners out there that WILL NOT tune your car if you run one of the e-bay throttle bodies. In all my research, and I've done a **** ton, I've yet to find anyone make a complaint about the Nick Williams throttle body not working the way it should, and additionally, tuners love it because it's extremely easy to get dialed in.

Ive used the edelbrock throttle bodies without any issue before, cant say much for the fast but what kinda problems are you guys having that makes tuners not want to tune your car without a nick williams throttle body. lol

I believe the main issue is them not being able to get the low RPM driveability and idle right, no matter what they try. I'm not a tuner, but have heard a lot of negative things from tuners regarding them.

I have a FAST 92mm TB and have had zero issues with it car idles great and my tuner didn't have a problem tuning it. From what I read the issue with FAST TB'S where the 90mm not the new 92mm or 102mm.

Im sure most other things in your private life you dont use this theory with...

I believe you have been reeled in like a sucker fish... I googled N-W and came up with a sports player. I dont give a hoot who the guy is, Im like the 85% of others on this forum in thinking anything over $100 is bullshit money for a throttle body. Its maybe $20 worth of materials.

I believe I read that Nicky's tb's were cast and then machined - all in China? So why on earth is his name worth more? Also hope you dont intend on using a DBW unit as they have had a ton of issues with the cheap plastic gears inside stripping causing the butterfly to seize shut, causing the engine to go in limp mode! Id say thats a pretty big deal for such a pricey investment I wouldnt want to cut corners on!

I came across this issue years ago when I put a straight thru tb on one of my builds and the thing drove like . low end was all but gone and top end on the freeway was not too bad. If your driving a naturally aspirated car then you must have a tb with a lump, hill, taper, mound, whatever you want to call it inside. This creates velocity. When you have a tb thats straight thru you are able to get away with it on boosted vehicles because the air doesnt just sit there its blown in.

As far as some other things that have caused me issues is a cheap *** TPS. You will want to run a factory one or a very high quality unit to alleviate possible issues with putting a modified tb on a vehicle.

Nick williams is a well known name but as far as there being anything special about what he sells, all it is is a hogged out and ported throttle body. THATS IT. There is nothing special done to "tune low end and idle drive-ability". It's a precision port job that is polished to a mirror finish. The 102's I believe are 90mm oem's hogged out with bigger plates. Sure there is nothing wrong with them, you just have to be willing to justify the price vs going with an ebay part that performs exactly the same. ANd if you don't know how to tune a TB to get the car to idle properly you shouldnt be working on cars anyway.

I wish Shane Hinds would come into this thread and comment. He's one of the best and well renounced LS tuners in the country and I don't believe he'd have anything good to say about the ebay TB's.
