Question Knock sensor caps for LS6 valley cover?

Bought an LS6 valley cover for my 2000 LS1 while doing some upgrades. Just getting it buttoned up and noticed the caps/covers for the knock sensors on original harness are loose inside the holes in the LS6 valley cover.

Did the LS6 cover require a different harness or at least slightly larger caps/covers? Or maybe I'm missing something like a rubber seal around the edge of the covers.

Could I just seal these up with some high temp RTV vs trying to track down the right caps?

thx

The sub harness needs to be replaced. LS1 and LS6 are interchangeable. New ones will be difficult to get in.

Anyone have the correct part number for the LS6 sub harness with the correct size caps/covers? I was looking at Dorman 917033

Yeah 12601822 seems to be the same as the dorman part number and I've seen the dorman part listed for both a 2000 camaro LS1 and a 2004 corvette which should have had the LS6 valley cover. It appears to be the sensor covers/caps should be the same as the part #s are the same or am I missing something? (looking up the part numbers at RockAuto)

They look the same. The oem one is $40 and the dorman from Rock auto is $20. Looking at the pics they look the same but not sure if the quality is the same.

Do the knock sensor covers actually fit tight in the valley cover or do they just kind of lay on top and those foam pads under the intake keep them down? If they used the same part on LS1 and LS6 valley covers then I'm not sure why my original knock sensor covers don't fit snug. I don't remember how mine were when I took apart the LS1 awhile back.

Hey, how loose in the hole is loose? I just bought a brand new ls1 knock sensor harness, but started ripping stuff apart and my pcv hoses were rotted away. I may be switching to the ls6 cover. And wanted to know if I could make it work.

They just fit into the holes with almost no slop but not tight enough to hold themselves in like I would expect. I think perhaps the rubber/plastic shrank just a bit from heat cycles and maybe a new part would fit snug. My mechanic just set to put a little high temp rtv on the lip and seal them up. Works for me.

Worst case I wrap some pipe tape around them a few times to make them seal up if I decide to go with the ls6 cover. Thanks for the info man!
