Default 2.5" true duals compared to 3"

Thinking about doing the hooker blackheart 2.5" true duals. Other post say 2.5" duals are only good up to 500hp. To me true dual 2.5" would be better than even a single 4". True dual has a total of 5" compared to a single 4". Does it not work that way? Ill be doing a 416 this winter with nitrous. I dont want to spend the money on the kooks 3" true duals and also give up the ground clearance. But i dont want a restrictive exhaust, and rather not mess with cutouts.

Why? Let's say we have a 4" single exhaust and a true dual 2.5". The 4" has air from all 8 cylinders. The 2.5" only has air from 4 cylinders. How could the 4" single still be better?

It's not a dedicated setup of 2.5" per bank as it has a crossover or X-pipe that merges the gasses and then forces them through the rearward section. A 2.5" dual setup won't out perform a single 4".

Google area of a circle and you get a calculator. Just put in 1.25" you get 4.91 cubic inches and times two and you have 9.82 cubic inches. With 2" you get 12.57 cubic inches of area to flow through. As you add to pipe you are adding to the outside and the further out you go the faster the area adds up. Nitrous tuners learn this real quick.

LS3 cam, milled heads 1 3/4 headers with 2.5 inch true dual customs. My x-pipe is a "joined" section which connects the 2 sides without being a crossover.

480hp at wheels.

It was mentioned abpve but a bit unclearly. The area of a 2.5 inch pipe is 4.91 square inches. So two 4.91 square inch pipes times two is 9.82 square inches.

True Dual 2.5 = 9.8
True Dual 3.0 = 14.1
Single 3 = 7.1
Single 4 = 12.6

So a true 2.5 system is a happy medium between the standard single 3" and a single 4". True 3.0 trumps everything.

It''s all about volume.

Prob not enough room so I didn't go bigger. Which is also why you dont see anyone offering that. But it would be 22 square inches
