Hotter Spark Improved ignition MSD ?
Hotter Spark Improved ignition MSD ? Does anybody make a ignition box that improves the factory ignition on factory EFI LS1. MSD or Mallory? Is there a plug and play box out there that increases spark or are the factory GM coils etc all there is?
Search about "truck coils". That's cheap, not much
fabbing. Might benefit from messing the dwell settings
around, some.
Just how much do you think stock ignition is really
holding you back? I'd say there are plenty of better
ways to spend a few hundred bucks. But some
junkyard truck coils and a couple pieces of aluminum
flat stock, that's a good enough shade tree project.
Assuming you get good junkyard parts fairly priced.
Just because some aftermarket outfit says "up to"
seldom means that's what you'll get.

GM Coil Selection First, I would increase your plug gap until you have "miss-fire".
This is a way to test your coil output.
Make sure you have good wires that are "greased"
Then state your coil part # AND coil Dwell if possible.
My GM coils feature direct fit, ten percent more output, NO over dwell safety "auto-fire" controls.
Sure there are devices the boost coil voltage to 16+ volts, but cost more than the cost to replace eight coils.
