I have read some discussions on this but I could not find where anyone has done it "real world". Maybe my search skills are lacking... Anyway, would there be any benefit in doing this, such as throttle response or would it cause turbulence in the intake stream ultimately harming performance?
The setup in question will be for a 408 with a stock LS3 intake, GMPP cnc'd heads and running a BTR Stage 4 LS3 cam. Initially it will be fed via a standard SLP lid and an 85mm MAF. I know that these are restrictions but I'm trying to waste my $$ as wisely as possible on "hard parts" initially and then addressing the easier stuff as I go.
I don't know if I will eventually step up to a FAST 102 or not. If there is any benefit to the larger TB, when funds allow, I would definitely get a larger lid and MAF or swap to speed density. I already have an SSRA on the car. I only want to buy a TB once but I don't want to bolt on a part that will harm the driveability of the car.
I have obviously not purchased a TB yet. I am looking for assistance in making an educated decision.

IMO I would assume there is no benefit but likely some downsides with tuning and if the intake protrudes behind the TB it would cause turbulence.
FYI the benefits to a 102mm intake are the runners and plenum themselves, not the size of the opening.
