Default To MAF or not to MAF...that is the ???

I was originally going to go with just the de-screened stock MAF but somebody made me start thinking about that. The Plan is to go with a good ram-air set-up, Direct flow lid, Airflo.com smooth bellow, AMS 80mm ported TB, AMS Ported LS6 Intake. Since everything else on the intake is going to be upgraded would it be worthwhile to upgrade the MAF as well. I plan on getting the car tuned after I install the headers and cam anyway so the fact that it might lean out the A/F would be a moot point, because I could get that corrected.

Also how well would a direct flow lid work with say an 85 mm Z06 MAF?

Thanks,
Ryan B

If your going to go with a larger TB then you might as well go to the larger MAF. Whatever point is the smallest will be the max air the system can flow. Now with all that said, your still a stock internals engine and I HIGHLY doubt you will notice any difference in HP between the stock maf and a larger maf. Stock engines just don't need the airflow.

On a stock internal car there is no need for all the bigger stuff. A 75mm lid, stock MAF, and a good ported stock throttle body will be more than enough for a stock internal car.

do you have plans for some major internal modifications? if not, I would not spend my money on helping the intake of your car. Air already flows really well (enough to support around 500 HP I believe). You should tell us what your new mod plan is first, and then all the helpful folks here will be able to point you in the right direction

i'm not just going to do intake mods, I'll be throwing a cam and full exhaust at the car too. I've got another thread going that has the rest of the planned mods, I'm jsut wondering if the MAF is something I should add to the list.

Given that you plan to tune and have the
money to spare, a Z06 MAF from gmpartsdirect
and a 5-3 adapter from Caspers is how I'd go.
