Default Getting rid of power steering

I got a 04' gto and I want to get ride of my power steering. I want to know what I have to do as far as removing the pump goes. Do I need to get a guide or idler pulley to replace the pulley from the pump, or can I just run a shorter belt and be ok as long as it keeps the same tension? If I can just run a shorter belt what size belt would be ideal? If I need a pulley where would I be able to get one or would it have to be custom fabed
