Default ses after plugs?

Started on my plugs today, but got interrupted after only finishing the driver's side. Anyway, had to fire up the car to get gas for my trip to work tomorrow and now i'm getting an ses light?

I went with tr55's gapped to .050, and despite the dealer telling me the previous owner had changed plugs (car was 35k miles when I bought it) it sure looked like I was pulling fried stock ac delco's...

I've done plug changes on other cars, this was the first time on an ls1 but I don't really think anything could have gone wrong to cause this. Went pretty smoothly other than getting a wrench into the engine bay being the biggest PITA.

Could it be because i'm running new tr55's on the driver's side and stockers with 60k on the other side? Maybe the cylinders are firing way off from eachother? Car runs smoothly still, and oil psi seemed to jump ~3-4 at idle so I have no idea what would be causing this code...

Thanks in advance, sorry for the long post but I wanted to explain it all fully!

Check your plug wire connections first.

Did you disconnect the coilpack for any reason? If so one of the wires in the connectors might have gotten pushed down. Happened to me after installing headers. My code was a misfire in cylinder 4. I would definitely get the code checked at a Autozone or something and find out the what your dealing with. Good Luck!

Coil pack went untouched. I reused the stock wires this time instead of upgrading, I wonder if they just can't handle these plugs?

hrrrm.

You should hear/feel a "click" when you get a good connection. The may be fine at idle but, when under a load like in acceleration the could misfire resulting in a flashing SES.

When I did my header install back in April I changed my plugs and went with the TR55s as well. Car runs fine. I do feel your pain on getting to the plugs. The wires were also a PITA to pull off and you had to push pretty firm to get them back on. While having two different plug types might not be the best for optimum performance, it wouldn't set off a ses light.

Wires seem like they're on pretty damn tight, but i'll have to double check them again tomorrow to make sure they "click." I think the neighbors are getting pissed that I keep starting it and the cutout is open

Another trick I learned was to pull off the wire where it connects to the coilpack while the car is idling. If you hear a ticking sound then the plug is firing, if not then you have a problem with the plug or the wire.

Thanks i'll have to try that then when I get home. I'm thinking that since the wires have 60k on them, the tr55s might have simply been too much for them to keep up with.

I probably should have gone with some 8.5's anyway, so maybe i'll just do that over the weekend if it does turn out to be a bad wire.

If after you have checked the obvious, without finding the problem, any OBDII scanner will be able to tell you which cylinder is misfiring.

Dumbass of the year award goes to....

this guy...this guy right here.

Upon popping the hood again, I noticed I hadn't plugged the temp sensor back in after pulling it for more clearance near the #1 plug.

Mental note, don't work on the car when in a sleep deprived state.
