Good advise. I dont want a failed lifter after all this invested lol. How do you like your 225's? Is it noticeable over your last set of heads?

I love them and am glad I went this route. Old heads were untouched 241s, so yeah a little noticeable Mine put down over the 475 you're after, so it's absolutely do-able.

I would just call and talk to someone at Texas Speed if these heads are what you're considering. Yes, they reply to threads, but you can get more in-depth info from a live conversation. I've talked to Lonnie a lot and if he hasn't known something, he talks to their engine builder or whoever and gets back to me via phone/email. I'm sure other vendors would do the same.

We can mill the heads slightly down with the Tsunami to a 61cc Chamber, which will get you right next to 11.0:1. That camshaft is just large enough to where we don't want to kill much piston to valve.

If you have 1 7/8" headers, free flowing exhaust, and a good lid with a manual I think that is very realistic.

The 227s make about 12-15rwhp more then our stg 2.5 ls6 heads peak, but keep in mind the compression bump will help more in the low end. Especially the larger the cam you have.

Would yourself or anyone with the knowledge chime in on head gaskets? Should I get a new stock set? Whats up with the cometic stuff? Is it overkill for N/A? What thickness would I run on a stock LS6?

The factory LS1 MLS gaskets will work great on the stock block with these heads. No need for a Cometic unless you had a specific thickness other than stock in mind.

I would run stock thickness myself. The only reason to go cometic in an N/A setup is for the thinner gasket, but I am not sure you will have room for it with the larger camshaft and the slightly milled heads.

I have a set of the 227's on my Trans Am put them on over the winter. Setup is as follows

Stock Ls1 short block
Prc 227"s with 62 cc chambers
ls6 intake
Ported stock tb
Slp lid
1 7/8 longtubes
True duals with x pipe
Built 4l60
Fti 3800
4.10's

I do not have any dyno comparisons but after the head swap I felt a huge difference up top. Before the car would come out strong and then right around 6k kinda just nose over but now it pulls hard right to 6800 rpm. Car is no slouch either it went consistant 11.30's when it was Cam only. My car is no where near max effort but it runs damn good for how simple the combo is, it surprises alot of cars on the street. You will be happy with these heads.

Good Call. With those heads my cam should work well or should I go to a MS3 or MS4? I am excited to get a huge difference on the road!

Are LS1 and LS6 gaskets the same?

Thats good that you have had a good experience with the heads that you have! Good quality? I know my car right now, cam only, is running 118-119 in the 1/4. Ran a 12.8 @ 117 when I first got it and was burning oil lol. Best I got down to was a 12.67 @ 118.8 with a 2.3 60' as is. Albeit I was on NT555's and stock torque arm. I have since changed my Torque arm an did a relocation kit and an ATI balancer so We will have to see what she can do now lol. I was having the hardest time trying to launch last time.

So you could tell a dramatic difference? How do you think a FAST 102 would do in addition to the 227's?

I wouldn't even consider the MS3 or MS4 over what you have now, since it's hardly any different.

Man that Z06 I ran a couple weeks ago had a MS3 and it sounded way more aggressive than mine as far as idle chop is concerned lol

Well there could be several reasons for that. Different exhaust, different tune, and slight differences is overlap and whatnot. But I guarantee you that cam probably makes within 5 hp of the one you have now. Just compare the overall specs and you'll see its hardly worth the swap. Just my opinion

What about spending a little more and going with the mamo 220's or the cheaper 223's?

At that point you might as well choose the PRC AsCast heads.

and guys that was my next question. In reality how much power am I losing going with 225's vs 227's? Would I still be doing better with the 225's vs ported 243's?

I'm starting to save up for the intake and heads. Realistically swapping out my LS6 intake with a FAST 102, what can I expect? Dramatic gains all over, just top end, or what? Will drivability suffer? 30 rwhp? Maybe more?

I'm surprised we don't see more results from the prc227's. They are priced great for a full CNC head. I would like to see some more real world results

i agree man! I really want to make a monster N/A 346. However I don't want to spend $1k for 10 hp.

I understand how you feel. I think I have decided on the tfs 220's myself

If you aren't wanting to spend the extra money go with the PRC As-Cast 225s. They offer very similar performance to the 227s with all the benefits of an aftermarket casting without the higher price of the CNC 227s. If you aren't wanting to spend the money to build a max effort setup the 225s are a great alternative.

Thanks for your knowledge Aaron. My goal isn't Max effort, per say, my goal is 500 RWHP. I know that, that includes Max effort parts though. I am not sure if that makes sense but I'll explain. I want a car that traps mid to high 120's. I think upper 400 to 500 rwhp can do that.

Now what I want to avoid doing is depleting value. Let me explain. I don't want to spend $1k, for example, to go from say 450 rwhp to 460 rwhp. What I want to do is spend money that will get me from 440 to 485-500 rwhp.

My cam spec's out at 235/240 .615/.629. I have seen some setups get very close to 500 rwhp on similar or smaller cams.

I guess in the nutshell, I want to spend money on getting to the goal and I dont want to come up short with spending more money. If I am going to be short on my goal then I'd prefer to do so with less invested.
