Default Power Upgrades questions

Hey guys, I recently joined the forum. I own a 2004 Z71 1500. I am looking to get more power out of it, as it seems to be a little slow for my taste. It already has a few mods on it such as a comp 212/218 112lsa 600 lift cam, 243 heads, and other little stuff for the cam. Now I'm looking into more mods that will further increase my power such as long tube headers, either a dyno tune or a mail order tune, exhaust, and a cold air intake for now. What other stuff am I missing? The engine is a 5.3l. I'm wanting too make around 500hp but I don't think that will be possible with the current cam I have. I'd like to the naturally aspirated for now until I get more money. Any suggestions on where to start I will really appreciate it. I have been reading many threads on different forums too. Thanks again guys, I really hope to learn a lot from everyone!

With those mods you should already have a tune. Even with a tune and those mods your not going to be close to your goal of 500hp unfortunately. If its it not tuned, then you really need to get it tuned. It needs to be either street tuned, remote tuned through email or dyno tuned through, a mail order tune wont help you that much with your setup since WOT would still need to be checked in person.

Yeah I realized 500 would be a bit to much, I plan on getting the truck dyno tuned next week since I don't have funds right now. Would I be able too hit 350 to the wheels with this cam and other bolt ons and a tune?

no offense, but regardless of whether or not your at 350 to the wheels its still a truck, designed for torque and not performance power, and will be slow compared to other vehicles using the LSX platform.

Weight, and combination of gearing and transmission is the source of your slow, not so much engine power. Case in point, I had a ram srt10, 500 crank HP but dogshit slow because of weight and gearing.

I wouldn't sink a boatload of money into it unless you were prepared for what will be required if your trying to get the kind of speed it sounds like out of this thing. And keep in mind with trucks as power goes up your traction goes down even worse than sports cars, truck beds create a light rear end and with more power and no rear end weight your *** will slide out easily and do nothing but spin.

Oh I know that I am still going to be slow lol. I'm not looking to be the fastest street truck around, but more so I am just looking too have a nice fun daily driver. My truck right now has 3.73 gears and they are more then adequate for my needs.

As already stated you have a tune. LT's in your case would net you some extra HP but you already have 243's which are the ideal Head choice without entering the $1500 zone for heads. If you are willing to spend the money a FAST LSXRT with matching TB and intake setup as well as a pair of LT's and a retune will net you more HP but will be costly. plan on over $2000

How much HP would that net me? I'm also looking into a full 3in custom exhaust, maybe switch to 4:10 gears, Diablo tuner too store a dyno tune, and a few other stuff.
