alternator trouble please help

alternator trouble please help hi, ill describe this the best i can and any help will greatly be appreciated this is one headache i cant get rid of.
so i put a 250 ho alternator on my 01 supercharged ws6, all was fine. i had the car out one day and my battery guage dropped and check guage light came on. found out i blew alternator up. had it replaced and it wouldnt charge my car at all, so i read about the 4 pin exciter wire, replaced the connector and still nothing, so i had the alternator converted to a 1 wire se so it no longer need the 4 pin exciter and it still wont charge, any ideas?
