Default 243heads/ls6 set up

Hi Team,

Local guy in the area is setting 243 heads with valves and springs off a TBSS (65k) ls6 manifold slightly ported and bbk 80mm tb and ls1 rails with fuel injectors for 1400CAD.

I am planning on offering him 1000CAD flat for the whole set up, if he does not take it I will subtract the bbk80mm as I've read it isn't really worth it and I can just port my stock one and I will also subtract the rails.

Hopefully he takes 1000 for the intake and heads, if not I will just go for the heads alone which I really want but just trying my luck to get the whole set up... why not right?

does this sound like a good idea?

Or should I just buy the whole set up .

The TBSS usually goes for a $250 or so US. I'd look for a used LS6 as it's nicer looking. The heads go for 500 or so US plus some extra for porting.

90% plus of the 242 heads out here are NOT LS6 heads. The LS6 head was a package containing hollow/sodium valves for stability in the upper RPM range. Real LS6 heads are not easy to find and expect to pay $$$ if you want a low mileage ready to bolt on set. Just my opinion .....

bought 799 heads for mine and they rock for a lot less money. Those fancy valves eh.... not so much I believe it was a weight thing.
