Default What timing chain, and lifters?

I've read alot of guys are using the LS2 timing chain, but now Im seeing alot of guys using the LS7 chain, which one? Can the LS7 chain be used with the stock sprockets? And for lifters, should I just change over the LS7 lifters? My engine is a later LQ4, unknown mileage. And where is the best place to buy?

Thanks.

Default Iwis

The IWIS "single" LS-7 chain is the strongest, this comes in an IWIS box.
The block mounted timing chain snubber (black) will fit that chain.
The L-92 VVT is the best chain Idler and MUST be modified for HP use by changing the tension spring.

Need more information for lifters, valve weight, lift, spring tension, RPM ?

I'm thinking of going turbo, with a stock cam, 6500 max rpm, or a na setup, 0.600" plus cam, lt, 6500 rpm, thats it. Not sure which way to go.

Thanks.

Default Valve Train Boost Requirents

OK, though I have had great luck with a OEM Z-06 camshaft.
The "boost" pressure effects Valve Train design. (valve seat pressure)
What will be your max boost ?

My spring choice would be a "dual" for the turbo.
This spring design features high seat pressure with low nose pressure.
We then fit Ti-Retainers on intake valve ONLY.

The turbo needs an increase in oil pump capacity.
The common choice is 2010 Camaro though a GM HV pump could be required when TWO turbos are fitted.

Will you fit one or two turbochargers.

A coil output increase will help with either choice and fuel use be reduced when a high output coil is fitted.

Single turbo, 10 to 15psi, or how far 42lb injectors go.

Thanks.

I wouldn't run 42# injectors with a forced induction car, 60# would be a lot better. As for the timing chain, check out the cloyes c-3220, it's an ls2 replacement chain that comes with a new cam and crank gear, and is very reasonably priced. I picked mine up for around $30

Default Fuel Injector Size = HP

The fuel injector is rated by flow AND frequency (Duty Cycle) @ a stated rail pressure.

Your 6500 RPM = 20ms@6000 RPM of injector frequency = OK
Your Fuel Pressure (?) is a common rating of 45 psi. = OK
Your BSFC also effects injector sizing, turbo = .5 is common = OK
Your fuel's specific gravity AND "E" content (?) pump grade is .790 = OK

The stated # 42.lbs x .5 BSFC x 8 injectors = 672 HP 100% Duty Cycle.
NOW "de-rate" the HP for the 80% Duty Cycle often specified = 596 HP
Thus a "street" rating of the 42's is 550 HP.

I also agree that the requirement for at least a 62 lbs (650cc) is WELL stated.

The manufacturer is use is Denso due to SMALL fuel droplet size with a result of a higher BSFC ability.
