Talking Give me the Pacesetter Low Down!!

I might be picking up some pacesetter headers for $200 bucks brand new, I know the guy don't worry, but I would like to know what to look out for.

Any thing in particular that I should stay away from? They are for 98s and I am waiting ofr a PM reply.

Thanks Kevin.

They fit REAL tight. You will probably have to notch the k-member. That is a good price. Are they coated?

if its the new design you SHOULD NOT have to notch the kmember, mine fit beautifully. i think the ypipe is the only downfall to the system.

The new design was made so you do not have to notch the kmember. Also the new ypipe is suppose to be better.

Maybe you just got a bad batch??? Either way it still blows.

Is there any other y-pipe that will fit up to the pacesetters?

How the hell did you get slower? These headers sound like pure crap!!! WTF!!

i think he meant lost a couple of tenths as in went from say a 13.5 to a 13.3..that was with a bad O2 so he should be able to lower his time even more...thats how i interpreted it..but could be wrong

i for one thing the pacesetters are a beautiful piece, do not be discouraged from them, for the price they cant be beat imo. its the ypipe that is a pain for your average mechanic, it requires some finessing but once mine was in place its fine, doesnt bang at all, i still need to get some band clamps cuz the exhaust shop expanded the openings too much and it leaks a little.

I think Pacesetters work best with a bad *** true dual setup that is what I have, and love them.

I kind of wish I had the new TSP true dual system... I bought one of their rumbler catbacks when those first came out, along with my Pacesetters and off-road Y. For the same amount of money as the ORY and Rumbler, I could have had a Rumbler X and done away with the y-pipe system all together.

Oh well... at least I don't seem to have the same kind of headaches as other people have with the Pacesetter Y-pipe. Mine only bangs under very low load (like when the clutch slips at low rpms and there's lots of clutch chatter vibrating the car)... no banging at all on hard shifts, at WOT, while cruising, if I leave a light at anything more than an idle, etc.

why does it always work that way? as soon as you think you waited long enough for the best option to come out for you/car not long after they make something even more to your liking. If you can get your hands on the true dual setup somehow though I would recommend it. I love my pacesetters with my true duals. My car will never have a y-pipe again...unless i have to put it back to stock to sell it

No kidding! But that's the way modding works... everytime you think you got the best thing you could get for your money, something comes along to prove you wrong. That's ok though... it's all part of the game and I accept that. I'm happy with my setup, and that's what counts.

I would like a true dual setup though... so perhaps sometime down the road when I need something else to tinker with after my next round of mods (I'm installing a cam in a couple of weeks, then a clutch) I may get a Rumbler X system.

I love my Pasesetters. They installed easy and look great. I have TD's though so know y-pipe issues.

I have to go Y-pipe though. Is there any Y-pipe that will fit the car other than the Pacesetter one?
