Then, somewhere else, perhaps on the other valve cover, through another similar oil baffle, the crankcase is connected to the post-air filter tube (air intake tube) where the crankcase is allowed to draw in fresh air from that source, which then flows towards the pcv valve and into the intake manifold. (crankcase:valve cover -> line -> post air filter tube)
This is the general path for all PCV systems in all engines manufactured around the world.
The catch can would go wherever you have oil collecting issues in any of the pcv lines. Some engines have oil that works its way out of the crankcase, towards the air filter tube (post air filter) and use a catch can there to help stop the oil. Other engines have oil issues coming out of the crankcase and heading towards the intake manifold, so we may install a catch can there to help catch it (until we fix the real problem: oil baffle in the engine, or excess crankcase pressure due to blow-by (bad/loose rings or poor cylinder shape or poor parts application)). Some engines lose oil in both directions, and use two catch cans...
