Swaping LM7 for L33

Default Swaping LM7 for L33

Hey guys new here and looking for some of your expertise. I have an 04 Z71 with a lm7 that the oil pump went out and locked up the engine. It had two hundred and seventy-five thousand miles on it so I was expecting to replace the engine sometime soon. My question is can I do a direct swap from the lm7 to the l33 with no modifications such as will the wiring harness be a plug-in play? Will the computer be sufficient? And I'm assuming because it's a5.3 externally it will bolt up fine? I see that the l33 has 15 to 20 horsepower more for about the same price from what I can find.

anyone done this?

Direct swap. The l33 has a different cam and heads so it has a little more power than the LM7.

Well that's a good upgrade .It will work , but the L33 has a little bigger cam and more compression . So your stock tune is little different , get the vin # of the L33 and retune to be dead nuts on .

i know it had slightly different internals, so I'm glad you mentioned that, how would i retune with that l33 vin?

You don't use the VIN, the person re-flashing your PCM needs the VIN so he knows what tune to put on it.
