Default Possible bent tsp header

So Im installing a pair of LTs, and I know it's generally a PITA getting the drivers side in but mine seem like id need another inch or so of space between the block and k member, there's a dent in the forwardmost pipe and I'm wondering if it might be bent, but TSP hasn't been very helpful. I've ground the lip of the k member almost all the way off and pulled the oil filter, what else can I do?

I had a similar issue with a set of tsp headers. Turns out I was trying to install a set fifth gen headers. The guy I bought them from ordered 4th gen headers and was sent 5th gen. Just a thought

The passenger side popped in real nice, unless they sent one 4th and one 5th, which would be odd

Try to get the get the collector pointed straight at the ground and slide it up that way. You will need the car really high

I recently installed a set of TSP 1 7/8" headers on my 2000 Z28. We used a lift so we were able to point the collector at the ground and with the trans cross member loose we let the rear of the motor/trans drop a little and it slid right in. I did have to trim a bit of material off of the flange on the k member for clearance but I think that was more from not replacing the stock motor mounts. There were no dings or dents at all on any tube.

Default Update: possible bent tsp header

You can see the dent, It's small, but right on the outside of a bend in the pipe

I'm thinking I have a bent pipe in my header, I've got the car up as high as I can lift it, lifted the engine another inch or so, ground the lip of the k member, pulled the oil filter, and the damn thing just will not go in. I'm attaching pictures of where it's binding up.

Are tsp headers this big of pita to put in? I just put a new set of kooks on mine and it literally only took 15 mins. Probably wasn't even that long and that was for both sides. They both slid right up without a single hiccup

I've had Kooks stepped headers in my old Formula and now the TSP 1 7/8" in my 2000 Z28. The fit and finish of the TSPs rivaled that of the Kooks for $409 vs. $900ish for the Kooks. I had access to a lift so the TSP install was fairly painless. I was replacing Pacesetter 1 3/4" and the tubing diameter did make for a more snug fit, but they fit and look awesome, with Kooks-like ground clearance. Thick 3/8" flanges and GM gaskets made sealing easy. And I also installed the TSP Rumbler X 3" TDs (also $409) So, for less than the cost of Kooks headers I have a complete polished stainless header/exhaust combo that sounds wicked.

Nice. Good deal for you then. Another car local to me has them hitting under the car while driving. And I've seen other post about folks having issues. Seem to be hit or miss.

But also seems you may not have shipped around a tad for your old kooks if you paid more than $900.
